Referring friends and family members to OhmConnect is without question a good idea. Not only are you doing something great for the planet by encouraging others to be more energy mindful but you also earn cash at the same time! It’s a win-win.

Lucky for the world, people like OhmConnect customer Daya V. from Huntington Beach, California exist to take things to the next level with a win-win-win.  She’s using the money she earns to start a Green Team at her son’s elementary school.

“This is something I’m really passionate about and I’m so excited to have found a way to fundraise for it, entirely through the money I earn from OhmConnect referrals,” she shared.

Working alongside school administrators, she plans to build a raised bed butterfly garden and install a compost bin and recycling bin for the school, a project she estimates will cost at least a few thousand dollars.

Since she had the idea to use her referral earnings for the project, she’s earned $980 in referral rewards!

How she’s so good at referring new customers

If you’ve ever tried to refer someone to a new program, you know that it’s not uncommon to receive a healthy dose of skepticism in return. Daya explains that when she shares with people why it would be helpful to her if they came on board, it’s easy and fun.

An employee of a popular grocery store chain, Daya has invited a number of her colleagues to join the program and says she couldn’t have gotten her fundraiser off the ground without their support.

“I talk a lot about my passion for this Green Team and people ask how they can help,” she said. “I immediately tell them that there’s this great program they can sign up for and the referral rewards will be sent my way. They get to help me out and it also won’t cost them anything and then they earn rewards for their own energy saving too! I tell them that it only takes five minutes and it’s super easy.”

OhmHours just part of her family’s eco-friendly lifestyle

Daya and her family have been OhmConnect customers for more than three years and their energy savviness has only increased.

When she first started out, she would go around the house and manually unplug her major appliances. The next year, she decided to flip her circuit breaker entirely. This year, she’s decided to automate her earnings and has connected smart plugs to her home’s biggest energy hogs -- all her family does when an OhmHour comes along is leave the house.

“We will go out in the garden or maybe get a pizza and go to the park. Every time I earn Watts during an OhmHour I spin the Wheel and see if I can get another discounted smart plug or increase my referral rewards. It’s a lot of fun!”

Their good deeds and hustle will do more than just good for the grid, it’ll bring a win to their local school too.

“I'm grateful to be able to do this personal fundraiser while also helping the environment simultaneously.”
